## In plain language

A 2021 statement from the US Preventive Services Task Force on helping adults, including pregnant people, to stop using tobacco. It updates the task force’s 2015 recommendation.

## Technical summary

USPSTF recommendation statement, JAMA 2021, volume 325, issue 3 (PubMed issue date 2021-01-19); an update of the 2015 recommendation. It gives separate statements for nonpregnant adults, for pregnant persons (behavioral interventions, an A recommendation; pharmacotherapy, an I statement) and for e-cigarettes (an I statement). Whether a later edition exists was not checked. The guideline's source is the USPSTF final recommendation statement page, which gives the statement date that the recommendation decisions use; the JAMA statement stays cited in the claims.
